Gab Bois is an ex-art student who is currently based in Montreal, Canada and she is one to watch. She specializes in close-up digital photography, using her own body as a canvas. Her images are very concept-oriented with her key interests being distopian art films, girl power and shark attack videos. She enjoys making people uncomfortable with her pictures, confronting traditional photography standards and hoping that someday 'weird' will become beautiful.
There is a brutal honesty in both her work and interviews, when asked what motivated her to shoot close-up, she responded that she uses a discount store point and shoot, that has a really good macro mode but does not allow for quality images at a larger angle.
Similar to the effect of her images, you can't help but wonder how much of this is literally 'tongue in cheek' as she also state that she prefers the impact as the attention of the viewer is concentration on one elemement, without distraction. Check her out on instagram @gabbois, her creativity and humour is undeniable.
